Therapy is about opening yourself up to new possibilities: unlocking new ways of being, thinking, and experiencing yourself in the world that will lead to greater satisfaction and fulfillment in your life. I practice psychoanalytic psychotherapy which means that I believe knowing oneself deeply will create lasting change. My expertise is in helping people process difficult experiences and emotions, change habitual, negative cycles, and strengthen relationships.

Faulkner said, “The past is never dead. It isn’t even past.” Each present moment holds shadows of the past and our work together will seek to bring light to those shadows. As we feel that it is appropriate to our work we can delve into the intersection of self with your family of origin and childhood, social relationships, gender, sexuality, race, religion, and society and culture at large…any of these parts of who you are that have impacted the issues that you bring to therapy. And we may discover that some of these parts of yourself have been disavowed or denied and that this is taking a considerable amount of your energy to keep them out of mind. Dreams, symbols and imagery, fantasy, and creative works can all be a part of the process of discovery.

This is a highly individualized process that will evolve to fit your personality, goals, and hopes. By employing this holistic scope, you will gain insight not only into the problem that brought you to therapy but also provide you opportunities to grow in ways that you have yet to imagine.
